Description
The Fittonia minima and native to tropical rainforest in South America. A popular spreading evergreen perennial with beautiful deep-green leaves with vein patterns of white, pink or red. This tropical plant grows as a ground cover and can spread to about 12 inches (30 cm). Its low-spreading habit makes it ideal for dish gardens and terrariums, where it thrives with the help of high humidity. Pinch off stem tips regularly to keep the plant bushy and full. Fittonias dislike strong, direct sunlight so if you notice your leaves starting to show signs of burn you may need to reposition in your home. As Fittonias are tropical plants they will require regular watering to keep the soil moist. Be careful not to water too much though as this can cause the foliage to rot. Pinch off any small flower spikes that may appear, because they are insignificant and will weaken the show of leaves. Re-pot in spring every couple years to refresh the soil. The Nerve Plant has shallow roots, so you can keep it in a small pot.
We also grow in the White Nerve Plant, Red Nerve Plant and the Neon Nerve Plant in the Easy Care Range
