Description
The Rumohra adiantiformis is native to South America, southern Africa and Australia. Commonly called Leatherleaf Fern, Leather Fern, Leathery Shieldfern, Iron Fern or 7-weeks Fern. The Leather Fern is an evergreen fern with elegant dark green glossy traingular fronds. The broad arching fronds can grow up to 1mtr long. In nature this plant can cometimes grow on tree limbs an an epiphyte. Somewhat cold tender, position in partial shade but can also grow in bright indirect sunlight. Like many ferns they require moderate water, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Because of the hardiness of this fern, the fronds are a popular choice with florists. They are also a popular houseplant looking great on any table.
