Description
The Philodendron erubescens is native to Colombia and this hybrid variety is commonly called the Imperial Red. This easy to care for plant can adapt to all kinds of conditions (as long as its warm), making it a popular houseplant. The Imperial Red is called a self-header. The Imperial Red gets its name from its big glossy leaves which start off a deep red-brown and as the leaves matures it turns green. The Imperial Red doesn't require a lot of watering. Allow the top layer of soil to dry between watering. The Imperial Reds thrive in humid conditions, so ensure you protect your plant from the frost. Position in bright, indirect sunlight. If you plant is indoors mist regularly, and wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep the foliage looking shiny and fresh.
We also grow the Philodendron erubescens Imperial Red as part of the Decorative Indoors Range
