Ctenanthe burle-marxii

The Ctenanthe burle-marxii are an evergreen perennial, native to Central and South America (primarily Brazil) and these species are commonly called just burle-marxii after the discoverer. They are grown for their attractive foliage. The burle-marxii have elongated, rectangular shaped leaves with a striking herringbone pattern on the top side of the leaf and a beautiful purple on the underside. They make fantastic under bedding plants because of their low growing habit. Position in a partial to shaded position in your garden. If you have it indoors ensure there is good filtered light. They do best in well-draining soil. Watering when the top layer so soil starts to dry. Remember to adjust the watering for the different seasons.
